    Vermont Council on Reading

We are an all volunteer organization committed to offering excellent professional development in literacy to the teachers of Vermont. We have brought a host of literacy leaders to Vermont, including Lester Laminack, Katie Wood Ray, Ralph Fletcher, Penny Kittle, Marge Lipson, Barry Lane, Aimee Buckner, Timothy Rasinski, Sara Holbrook, Kathryn Au, Michael Opitz, Donalyn Miller, Gay Su Pinnell, Lucy Calkins, and most recently Jennifer Seravallo and Tanya Lee Stone!

Vermont Council on Reading (VCR) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit. Its mission is to promote effective reading and literacy programs at all levels. The Vermont Council on Reading accomplishes this mission by providing professional development opportunities in the form of conferences, courses and journal articles.

The Vermont Council on Reading is a membership organization with currently over 200 members. Membership affords each person discounts to the annual conferences, publications mailed throughout the year as well as the opportunity to be part of and/or vote for the slate of offices held by the VCR Executive Board of Directors.

The Vermont Council on Reading has representation from all regions of the state. Check here to see the REGIONS. This will help you know which Director works in your area.VCR logo
